OUR MISSION

      Welcome to The Getaway Guide. My name is Gabriel Cajas, and I’m a student at Westchester Community College. My passion for travel is deeply rooted in my family’s story. My parents, who are Hispanic immigrants, would spend so much time away from their families and their home countries. To connect us after so much time in distance, my family and I would always go on trips to Ecuador and Peru, reconnecting with our relatives and embracing our cultural heritage.

         I’ve traveled to so many different parts of Ecuador and all of the fascinating places inside Peru, like the city of Cusco, the capital of Lima, Lake Titicaca, Huacachina – a beautiful oasis in the desert of Peru, and even historical wonders like Machu Picchu and the Nazca Lines. After falling in love with the culture and being away from home, it ignited my love for travel and exploration.

    Beyond South America, I’ve visited many more places growing up. I have traveled throughout most parts of New York, from NYC all the way to upstate Buffalo. I’ve traveled to various countries like Canada, Mexico, Perú, Ecuador, Colombia the Dominican Republic, England, Scotland, France, and Germany. Each of my travels has enriched my understanding of the world and my appreciation for different cultures.

     Through The Getaway Guide, I aim to share my travel insights, focusing on affordable destinations, weekend getaways that offer memorable experiences, and other travel guides. Whether you are a frequent traveler or you are just starting, my goal here is to inspire you for your next adventure.
